Games Direct Message (to Do)

Community Feedback

We're listening. For players who wish to have a voice in the future of Evernight, this is the place to talk to management. This is the newsgroup we'll be actively monitoring on a daily basis.

What can I do to help?

When I remembered Evernight (after a haze of 3D MMO's started to clear) and came back to see if it even still existed and it did I was ecstatic, and the newsgroup was silent and I was sad, and a lot of the core group was present (with some notable exceptions) I was happy, and when I saw it was purchased I was happy, now I wanna be really happy... If I need to learn a programming language I will(other than PET Basic (I learned that on my Vic 20)) I have the ability to learn quickly (I know learning a language is kind of a stretch to be really effective anyway but I want you to understand how much I would like this game to be successful). Tedious graphics processing? I'm your man. Search thousands of lines of code replacing commas et al? I can do that. Anything to get back to the former glory! A new interface and slick coolness will only add to the draw. After getting whipped soundly on my return the fire was ignited soundly under my ass. Please let me help. I don't need to be paid just let me play. JD aka NoRegrets

Hey NoRegrets,
We’re glad you came by to see if Evernight’s still here. Well, yep, it is.
The newsgroups and games aren’t has active as they once were, but we’re hoping to turn that around.
We’re not yet ready to bring in additional help right this second, but we do foresee that day coming soon and we’re looking into doing something about making that happen.
The main skillsets needed in the near future of the Evernight project are:
- Artistic/Design Talent - Javascript - C# - ASP.NET MVC - C++ (porting to C#) - Classic ASP (porting to C# ASP.NET)
Mainly Artistic/Design talent. That’s the largest area that myself and Ken (glaxono) have minimal (and by minimal I mean virtually no) expertise in.
The next most important area is probably Javascript. We’re looking to push as much of the UI logic/code as possible into the browser.

Yes please, do use us as your personal code monkeys. I only need a banana or two a day.
Im serious btw.
Reading NoRegrets post Im guessing Im about his programming skill level. But that wouldnt stop us both to analyze code, document the code, UML it, rewrite it in pseudo-code, test it. And for the database, start from scratch, remodel it, normalize it. We would only need a private password protected server with a sharing app to share code and versioning software.

Thanks Cortex, we appreciate your thoughts.
Actually, we are in fact currently looking into options for moving the project into a collaborative development environment.
We are fully aware that there is no shortage of people with a wide range of skills and talents who would like to help and contribute to EN in a meaningful way, if only they could. We are looking into making that possible.
Right now the Evernight project lives on our internal local network and for a number of various reasons our existing infrastructure just does not support opening up access.
Also, there is more than a little “quirkiness“ to how the Evernight site runs that doesn’t help this process.
