Update?

Hello to all, Other than stepping onto firmer ground (new servers with high fidelity), has there been any change to the game? Something was mentioned regarding modern web standards but I see we are still using ASP. How is this project moving along? M.

Hello Manticore,
We're glad to see you dropping in.
We moved the hosting to new servers and so far that seems to have been a success.
The project is moving along, but everything seems to take longer than expected.
The first phase which we're working on now, is rewriting the game play interface. Our main objectives are move away from classic ASP, eliminate frames, and cut down use of pop-up windows.
Which is mostly pretty straightforward and not especially difficult. The challenge has been sorting through and understanding the existing code and data. Even that is not especially difficult, what it has been, is tedious and time consuming.
We're hoping to have enough ready so that we can start opening the new interface for alpha testing soon.

Sweet! This would be great to post in news...with the aside that timing is not specific. :D

Hello everyone,
I have been hoping this game would hurry and get off the ground again. May I recommend (if possible) trying to advertise on this game *Lord Of Ultima* It is a browser based game and I think the players that play LOU would love Evernight. I am a player there and I love EN. But it takes way too long to get a game started. I have sent people there and they quit because the game they entered never started and no dialog from anyone...maybe you could send a message saying...hey we are trying to get your game underway, but we still need x-amount of people to join in order to start your game, to speed this up, **try getting your friends to join for FREE** and let them enjoy this great experience with you. Thank you for your patronage,
Management...
This would very possibly keep some from getting discouraged while they wait and possibly get there friends to try it....

I agree, I have been waiting on a battle of the greenhorns to start for almost a week and the only other person in there is a friend I invited trying to get more people to come to the game.....might I suggest an in game incentive for promoting the game? I played another game breifly that offered an in game resource for promoting the game via voting sites, the resource wasn't necessary to game play, but made the game that much easier and smoother if you had it, and while you were in transit and waiting you could just go vote for the game on these sites, they even provided links to go vote, and every vote earned more resource points....that would get the game out to more people and give existing players an incentive to help.....just a thought

Might be doable. But I can't think of anything we can offer in-game that's not vital to what you're doing.
We might be able to offer a small starting advantage, as those can be blown rather quickly without having too adverse an effect on later gameplay.
But with the current system and completely and total slowness of the game, making it so you can only play one or two games at a time without paying would ruin the first time user's experience. What happens if they join a game that never fills? They never get to play.

I honestly can't think of any kind of resource that could be offered, but I'm sure there has to be a viable incentive you can offer people for promoting the game, even if it's something that doesn't help you win the actual game, and on the topic of joining a game that never fills, I would say that wouldn't be a problem if you were getting the game out to the public. As long as new players are coming in, greenhorns and MFEGs are getting filled. I'm playing for free right now, and I'm in two games, the second of which just started and that's exactly where I want to be, I might join a third if the mood strikes me but I'll probably just stick with two at a time....though I do wish that they ticked on weekends lol

I would love a weekend ticking game, but I just don't see it as viable with this playerbase.
The management may think otherwise however.
I agree we should give incentives for bringing in new players to try and promote the game better, but as it stands, with the way the game is built, it's very hard to do and there's just not much to offer, IMO.

We had a weekend warrior template, if you would like we can simply start another?
At 40 ticks opportunity, thats 20 weeks for the game, which is why it doesn't happen often...
Could do it as a two or three ticks a game weekend game though...

Hm...I think maybe 5 ticks per day on Saturday and Sunday would be best. Ten ticks over the course of the weekend. Gives time to plan and communicate between ticks. And should satisfy anyone just hanging around EN or their computer for the weekend. If anything faster is desired, then opt for a duel.

Trouble with 5 ticks a day is that means every 3 hours, and most people have to sleep some of those...
Four ticks a weekend (12 hours) is probablyo more like what people can do, most don't sleep for more than 12 hours a day...
