Change Email
Submitted by Lunar Savage 3/12/2013 4:56:00 PM {time} ago in Community Feedback
For some reason, "to change your email, go to player settings" is at the top of the screen. Also, I can't actually change my email. Which really needs to be done. The email from 2003 or so is definitely no longer in existence, and if for some strange reason it is, it would be inaccessible as I guarantee you no one remembers the password to it. Lunar Savage
We put that at the top as a reminder for players to update their email address if necessary.
A vary large percentage of players have email addresses which are no longer valid or no longer accessible for whatever reasons.
When we start migrating logins to the new authentication system, not having access to the email address associated with your alias WILL add a layer of headache to the transition.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you say you can't change your email.
Do you mean you can't access "Player Settings?"
(if the link in the header isn't working, you can use the button on right menu directly)
Or do you mean when you are in "Player Settings" and try to change your email, it won't save for some reason?

The second. Whenever I try to change, it displays in red text at the top:
Email NOT updated.
And there is no change to the email address.
This is a problem.

Hmm. Ok. Not sure what's causing that.
I've tested changing email address in current browsers (ie, firefox, chrome, & opera) and it appears to work as expected.
My first suspicion is that something about your email address is not passing validation check(s).
Maybe a check that's faulty or possibly too restrictive.
I'll have to run down the code to see what checks are being done and try to find where something might be going wrong.
Meanwhile send me the correct email address directly:
[email protected]
I can manually update it, but more importantly that'll help diagnose out what's going wrong.

Yeah, for now, it will stay in place.
It's just simple reminder.
Right now we don't have anything in place to actually track whether or not email addresses are correct.
